12th GRADE FAMILIES:

  • Don’t miss out on free money for college! –  Fill out the FAFSA and the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria application before it’s too late! $5,920 from FAFSA plus $3,000 minimum SFA need-based scholarship = $8,920 per year towards college costs. So far, only 50% of seniors have completed the FAFSA, and only 7.6% of seniors have completed the SFA application!  Don’t pass up this chance to make college affordable for your family! 8th – 11th GRADE FAMILIES:
  • Plan to attend Annual Academic & Electives Fair from 6 – 8pm on Tuesday, February 6th – Beginning at 6pm, parents and students are invited to peruse the academic and electives fair in the cafeteria!  Come meet with dozens of teachers and visit informational tables from each core and elective class to discuss an overview of course offerings. You may also pre-register for classes on-site with school counselors!  Information breakout sessions about the GWU-ACPS Academy of Health Sciences and STEM Academy will be available.  Free interpretation and transportation available with FACE Center registration.

9th – 10th GRADE FAMILIES:

  • Save the date for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria’s College Night Virginia at 6pm on Wednesday, March 14th – Overwhelmed by the thought of planning for college? Don’t know where to begin? All 9th and 10th grade families are invited to a free, college-planning event where you can get answers to your questions about college admissions and paying for college. Come learn about how to navigate the college process, including understanding why college is important, choosing the right college, and searching for scholarships. Free pizza and interpretation services provided with FACE Center registrationAttendees will also have the chance to win one of three $500 scholarships!   1. The Purpose Challenge – February 1, 2018 – $25,000 essay contest open to current high school seniors

  2. Gloria Wille Belle Scholarship – February 1, 2018 – Open to current high school seniors from Virginia planning to attend University of Michigan, Ann Arbor to study STEM

  3. Stacey Scholarship – February 1, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship open to students age 18-35 pursuing a profession in the arts

  4. Significant Challenge Scholarship – February 1, 2018 – Open to high school seniors with 3.4+ GPA who have taken challenging courses and exhibited leadership

  5. Wings Over America Scholarship – February 1, 2018 – Open to current high school and college students whose parents served (or are currently serving) in the US Navy in an aviation command  (squadron, naval air station, carrier, etc.)

  6. Nancy B. Reese Memorial Fund – February 1, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship for graduates for Virginia high schools ($5 fee to apply)

  7. Bart Kamen FIRST Robotics Competition Scholarship – February 1, 2018 – $10,000 scholarship open to high school seniors who have participated in FRC for at least one year and who plan to take biology, physics, chemistry and organic chemistry courses in college

  8. Sunflower Initiative – February 1, 2018 – $10,000 scholarship open to high school seniors with 3.7+ GPA desiring to attend a women’s college

  9. Jackie Robinson Foundation – February 1, 2018 – Open to minority high school seniors with financial need, leadership potential, and community service experience; applicants must have minimum SAT score of 1000 or a composite ACT score of 21

  10. Northern VA Urban League – February 2, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship open to African American northern Virginia high school seniors with 3.5+ GPA

  11. Lee-Jackson – February 2, 2018 – Open to current high school juniors and seniors in Virginia. Scholarships are given for outstanding, original, analytical essays on any aspect—positive or negative—of the career, character, or legacy of General Robert E. Lee and/or General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson

  12. AMS Scholarship – February 2, 2018 – Open to high school seniors and current college students pursuing a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic or hydrologic sciences

  13. Scholarship Fund of Alexandria – 4:30pm on February 5, 2018 – Renewable scholarship just for TC Williams seniors!  Merit and need based awards available, ranging from $500 – $6,000 per year of college. More than 50% of applicants win!

  14. Ronald McDonald Scholarship – February 5, 2018 –  Open to high school seniors with 2.7+ GPA who has at least one parent of Hispanic heritage

  15. Boren Study Abroad – February 8, 2018 –  Up to $20,000 for current college students who are planning to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Scholars must wish to work in the federal national security arena and commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation

  16. Virginia Council on Women STEM Essay Contest – February 8, 2018 – STEM essay contest open to high school juniors and seniors with 2.5+ GPA who identify as women

  17. Microsoft Scholarship – February 9, 2018 – Open to current college students with 3.0+ GPA studying STEM

  18. Fairfax Young Artist Scholarship – February 9, 2018 – $2,000 cash award for a high school junior or senior enrolled in a northern Virginia high school band or orchestra

  19. Davidson Fellows – February 14, 2018 – $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships for students 18 and under who have completed a significant piece of work.  Application categories are Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box

  20. Jashemski Scholarship – February 15, 2018 – Open to students in the DC area, age 17-25, with 3.5+ GPA and significant religious commitment as evidenced by formal membership in a religious body, regular participation in its worship life, and active involvement in its service ministry. Financial need based award up to $10,000

  21. DAR National Scholarship – February 15, 2018 – $5,000 per year renewable scholarship open to US Citizen high school seniors

  22. Apple Federal Credit Union Scholarship – February 15, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship for seniors with 2.5+ GPA who are members of Apple Federal Credit Union

  23. Goya Culinary Arts – February 15, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship open to high school seniors (including DACA students) with 3.0+ GPA planning to pursue a 2 or 4 year degree in culinary arts

  24. NVADACA – February 17, 2018 – $3,000 scholarship open to northern Virginia high school seniors who have participated in a sport

  25. Virginia State Golf Association Scholarship – February 21, 2018 – Open to Virginia high school seniors who play golf

  26. Asian Pacific Fund – February 23, 2018 – The Asian Pacific Fund administers 13 scholarship programs open to both high school seniors and current college students with 3.0+ GPA

  27. Old Town Alexandria Connections Scholarship – February 28, 2018 – Open to Alexandria high school seniors who display an understanding of the responsibility business leaders owe the community in which they work

  28. DCNNOA Scholarship – February 28, 2018 – $1,000 scholarship open to minority youth from the DC area who exhibit academic achievement, positive community involvement, commitment, and financial need

  29. Absolutely Outdoorsy Scholarship – February 28, 2018 – $1,000 essay contest on what makes a great road trip open to high school seniors and current college students

  30. Wells Fargo Academic Leader Fellowship – February 28, 2018 – 4-year, rull-ride scholarship to the college of your choice for Pell-Grant eligible students in top 10% of class who exhibit leadership potential
March
  1. AFOSC – March 1, 2018 – Merit-based scholarships for eligible US Air Force dependent children who are graduating high school seniors with 3.25+ GPA
  2. American Chemistry Society – March 1, 2018 – $2,500 renewable scholarships for underrepresented minority students who want to enter chemistry-related fields; open to current high school seniors as well as college students
  3. Virginia PTA Scholarship – March 1, 2018 – $1,000 scholarship open to high school seniors with 2.5+ GPA, commitment to community service, and financial need
  4. National Press Club Scholarship for Journalism Diversity – March 1, 2018 – $2,500 renewable scholarship open to high school seniors with 3.0+ GPA and plans to pursue a career bringing diversity to journalism
  5. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship – March 1, 2018 – $5,000 non-renewable scholarship open to high school seniors with 3.0+ GPA and plans to pursue a career in journalism
  6. Dream US – March 1, 2018 – Full-ride scholarship to GMU for DACA students transferring from a Virginia Community College
  7. HI USA Travel Scholarship – March 2, 2018 – $2,000 scholarship for current or former Pell Grant recipients who are 18-30 years old to help finance an international trip that includes an educational or service component
  8. Ivy Foundation – March 9, 2018 – $2,000 renewable scholarship open to high school seniors with financial need and community service experience
  9. John R. Lillard Virginia Aviation Scholarship Program – March 9, 2018 – $3,000 scholarship for a Virginia high school senior with 3.5+ GPA planning a degree in the field of aviation
  10. Kenneth R. Scott Virginia Aviation Scholarship Program – March 9, 2018 – $3,000 scholarship for a Virginia high school senior with 3.5+ GPA planning a degree in the field of aviation
  11. Religious Liberty Essay Contest – March 9, 2018 – $2,000 essay contest open to high school juniors and seniors discussing whether public school calendars should accommodate religious holidays
  12. Blacks In Government-Department of Labor Chapter – March 15, 2018 – Open to graduating high school seniors from the DC area with 2.0+ GPA
  13. Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship – March 15, 2018 – $1,000 scholarship open to African American male high school seniors from the DC area who participate in the Leaders of Tomorrow Program; $1000 for 3.0+ GPA, $500 for 2.0-3.0 GPA
  14. Booz Allen Hamilton – March 15, 2018 – $3,000 renewable scholarship open to children of Booz Allen Hamilton employees
  15. Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Scholarship – March 16, 2018 – Two local scholarships: one is open to seniors with GPA of 2.0 to 2.9 and the other is for seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  16. WISER – March 16, 2018 – $1,000 scholarship open to high school seniors with community service experience and a documented learning challenge
  17. Historical Essay Contest – March 16, 2018 – $3,000 scholarship open to a graduating high school senior from Virginia who plans to attend an in-state college or university
  18. Willard G. Plentl Aviation Scholarship – March 16, 2018 – $1,000 scholarship for a Virginia high school senior with 3.5+ GPA planning a non-engineering degree in the field of aviation
  19. ECF Kozy Kap Scholarship – March 17, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship for a DC area senior with 2.5+ GPA who has been diagnosed with cancer (or had a parent diagnosed with cancer) in the last five years
  20. ECF Estelle Gaymon Scholarship – March 17, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship for a DC area senior with 2.5+ GPA who exhibits leadership and commitment to community service

  21. ECF HBCU Scholarship – March 17, 2018 – $2,000 scholarship for a DC area senior with 2.5+ GPA who exhibits leadership and commitment to community service and will enroll at an HBCU in fall 2018

  22. ECF Alma Palmer HBCU Scholarship – March 17, 2018 – $3,500 renewable scholarship for a DC area senior with 2.5+ GPA who exhibits leadership and commitment to community service and will enroll at an HBCU in fall 2018

  23. ECF STEM Scholarship – March 17, 2018 – $7,500 scholarship for a DC area senior with 3.75+ GPA and demonstrated interest in majoring in STEM 
  24. Virginia Mayflower Society – March 19, 2018 – $1,620 scholarship open to high school seniors from Virginia with a B average or higher
  25. Carleton Summer Academic Program Scholarship – March 20, 2018 – Need-based scholarships available for summer programs at Carleton College for lower income and/or undocumented or DACA students who are currently in 10th or 11th grade
  26. QuestBridge College Prep Scholars – March 21, 2018 –  Students with high financial need (household income of $65,000 per year or less) who have a 3.75+ GPA and are enrolled in AP/DE courses should consider applying to QuestBridge College Prep Scholars summer program (including undocumented or DACA students). This all-expense-paid summer program will give students a leg-up in applying for QuestBridge College Match, a 4-year full-ride scholarship to top ranked partner colleges. Applications are due March 21st for the summer program and late September for the college scholarship. If interested, please see Ms. Feldman in A-115  ASAP!  
  27. Flag House Scholarship – March 23, 2018 – $1,812 scholarship awarded to high school senior for 300 word essay contest
  28. Ft. Myer Thrift Shop Scholarship – March 29, 2018 – Merit-based scholarship for children of active duty, retired or deceased U.S. Army personnel
  29. Hispanic Scholarship Fund – March 30, 2018 – $500-$5,000 scholarships open to high school and college students with Hispanic heritage (including DACA students)
  30. USPAAC – March 30, 2018 – $5,000 scholarship open to high school seniors of Asian Pacific Island heritage, 3.3+ GPA, community service experience, and financial need
  31. Legacy of Life Scholarship – March 31, 2018 – Write a 1,000 word essay or produce a video persuading the audience to become registered organ donors; $5,000 first prize in both categories
  32. CommonWealth One Kathryn Coleman Scholarships – March 31, 2018 – Two $2,500 scholarships open to current college students and high school seniors who are members of CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union
  33. Foster Care 2 Success – March 31, 2018 – $5,000 renewable scholarship open to students who have been in public or private foster care for the 12 consecutive months leading up to and including their 18th birthday; OR have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship after their 16th birthday; OR have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday and not subsequently adopted
  34. Community Associations Scholarship – March 31, 2018 – $1,000+ social media essay scholarship for graduating seniors from DC area with 2.5+ GPA

  35. Great Clips Scholarship – March 31, 2018 – $1,500 scholarship for cosmetology students

  36. Automotive Aftermarket Scholarship – March 31, 2018 – Scholarship for high school seniors and current college students planning a career in the automotive industry

  37. VABA Aviation Scholarship – March 31, 2018 – $2,000 scholarship for a Virginia high school senior or current college student pursuing an aviation related degree
  38. Women in Technology Scholarship – April 1, 2018 – $2,500 scholarship open to high school seniors and current college females with GPA of 3.0+ studying STEM
  39. Virginia ESL Scholarship – April 6, 2018 – Scholarship for current high school seniors from Virginia with 3.0+ GPA who was enrolled in an ESL program for at least 1 year in grades 6-12
