Fall Fund Drive

Scholarship Fund's Fall Fund Drive Relies on Community Support!

The Scholarship Fund conducts an Annual Fall Fund Drive to raise money for college scholarships for T. C. Williams High School graduates. The community was asked to participate in our culminating event "Calling for Dollars" on Sunday, October 26 from 4 – 8 pm at T. C. Williams High School, 3330 King St., Alexandria. This event replaced the Telethon.

Participants made volunteer to make phone calls or support the Scholarship Fund by making a donation to provide college scholarships for Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) students. This fun event featured raffle drawings for prizes for volunteers.

There were some exciting opportunities for donors: An anonymous donor matched new or increased donations from former or current ACPS parents up to $8,000! Also, ACPS Alumni were encouraged to give through a friendly competition called the Clash of the Titans. The winning Class was TCW 1977 and will award a scholarship in their name to a member of the Class of '15, and was recognized at the T. C. Williams Homecoming Game on November 1.

According to Scholarship Fund Board Chair and T. C. Williams Alum Cynthia Anderson, "the Scholarship Fund relies on the more than 700 donors who give to the Fall Fund Drive to support scholarships for graduates with financial need. In-state college tuition has increased 27% in the last five years, so the scholarships are critical to students who would otherwise not be able to afford college. We are grateful for the community's support of the students."

The Fall Fund Drive raised over $140,000, all of which will go directly to need-based scholarships for T.C. Williams graduates.
