Julie WilmerJulie Wilmer is a natural teacher and a born leader.  While at T.C. Williams, she tutored several disadvantaged elementary students and worked with one girl for three years.  She participated in summer mission trips to the Appalachians and to an Indian reservation in South Dakota.  She was selected for the Governor’s School for English; received the coach’s award in swimming; rowed on an undefeated T.C. Williams Women’s varsity eight; and won multiple rowing championships in the United States and Canada.

While at Princeton University, Julie tutored inner city children in Trenton weekly, spent two summers working with at-risk boys in New Hampshire, and was a member of the varsity crew team and of community-based Athletes in Action.  She majored in English, received a certificate in Teaching, and wrote her thesis on “The Therapeutic Value of Autobiographical Writing for At-Risk Teenagers.”

Julie returned to T.C. Williams, where she has taught in the highly regarded English Department for the past three years; served as a crew coach; and volunteered at a soup kitchen in the District.  Of returning to T.C. Williams, Julie says, “This school and community have meant so much to me and to my family.  I am thrilled to be back giving all that I can to make it a rewarding experience for today’s students.”
